You received your Big Fig foundation and you're ready to start the set up process. Follow our step-by-step guide below to have a restful night's sleep.
How to Put Together a Big Fig Mattress Foundation
Step 1: Lay out the wooden pieces of the foundation frame
If your size of foundation takes the center rails these will butt together to form a thick center support. Be sure that each End Frame and Side Frame has the recessed side facing up toward the center. This recess will hold the slats later in the assembly. Look for the UP indicator on each of the four pieces as a guide.
Note: King, Queen and Cal. King have 2 center rails, Full have just one, while Twin/Twin XL foundations do not require a center rail.
Step 2: Insert the bolts
Start at one end of the foundation. Insert the bolts found on the End Frame through the holes in the Side Rail. Be sure that the Velcro and recessed top faces up.
Step 3: Secure the End Frame to the Side Frame
Secure the End Frame to the Side Frame using enclosed hardware as shown. First, position the flat washer, then the locking washer, and end with the wingnut. Secure the other end of the Side Frame to the remaining End Frame. You should now have one Side Frame attached to one End Frame.
Step 4: Repeat Steps 2 & 3 for the remaining Side Rail
Attach both the side rails to one End Frame first. Follow the number order as shown on the left. Ensure all hardware is securely fastened. Remember to have the recessed part of the side frame Facing up forwards the center. If correct the Velcro will also be facing up.
Note: King, Queen and Cal. King have 2 center rails, Full have just one, while Twin/Twin XL foundations do not require a center rail.
Step 5: Lay the slats inside the foundation frame
Starting at one end of the foundation, carefully lay the slats inside the foundation frame, Velcro side down. Stretch the slats to ensure a snug fit. Use the Velcro to secure the slats in place.
Step 6: Lay the cover over the completed foundation structure
Starting with one corner, stretch the cover over the foundation. You may find it helpful to stand the foundation on its side to fully stretch the cover tightly around the frame. Continue to stretch and align the cover over each corner- there is a bit of a trial and error here to get it just right! When complete, all seams and corners should be neat and aligned.
Note: Cover is NOT machine washable. Spot clean only.
